ABOUT US

WHO WE ARE

We are a locally owned family business specializing in selling Amish made furniture.  Over 95% of our products are built by skilled Amish artisans from Ohio, Indiania, and Pennsylvania.  Rich and Jennifer Edwards, born and raised in Lincoln County WV,  are the owners and place a high priority on both customer satisfaction and on treating their employees like family.  After acquiring the business in 2016, they moved the store to its current location with almost 6000 square feet of showroom space and the business has grown significantly under their leadership.  Village Heirlooms has become the largest seller of Amish made furniture in WV and has been voted "Best" in class by readers of both the Charleston Gazette and the Herald Dispatch newspapers for 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, and 2023.

History

Village Heirlooms was founded in 2011 by Norman Schrock.  Norman was a third-generation furniture builder who was born Amish in northern Indiana.  When he was a small boy, his father left the Amish community and became Mennonite.   Norman's father and his grandfather were master furniture builders and Norman learned the trade at an early age from them.  He became the first member of the family to expand into retail sales as well as furniture building when he opened a furniture store in Rio Grande Ohio in the 1980's.  That store had so many customers from the Huntington/Charleston WV area that he decided to open a second store in Teays Valley in 2011.  He was very proud when one of his sons, Kevin, followed in his footsteps to become a furniture builder, making four generations of furniture builders in the family.  In 2016 he sold Village Heirlooms to the current owners, Rich and Jennifer Edwards.  In 2017 he closed the store in Rio Grande and retired from the furniture business to focus his efforts on his pastoral ministry with the Mennonite church.  Sadly, Norman died from cancer in 2023.  He is greatly missed by his many friends and former customers.
